Road Closures
Road Closures and Diversions
A road passing under the N7 Nenagh Bypass will be reduced to one lane for a period of four months. Flagmen and traffic lights systems will be in operation to regulate traffic flow.
        Newport Road - Lahesseragh Bridge
       
There is a local diversion on the Newport Road (R504) at Cooleen.

Temporary stoppages of approximately 10 minutes occur on the R504 (Birdhill to Newport) at Cooleen when quarry blasting takes place.

Newport interchange (Finnegan's roundabout) has a new layout in place.

There will be a road closure from 29th September 2008 to 3rd November 2008, 5 weeks total, on the L-2133-0 with diversions via R499 & N7.

There will be a closure as part of Thurles Interchange completion works L-6077-0 (Knockalton) from the junction with R498 for a distance of 400 metres, due to take place from 6th October 2008 - 29th December 2008.

There will be a closure at RC 19 L-21330-0 - Castlecranna, Carrigatogher, Nenagh, due from 29th September 2008 - 3rd November 2008.

Cappadine Road will be closed from 20th October 2008 - 1st December 2008, with alternative routes via L-6034-0, N7 - R499 and R499 N7, L-6034-0.

LP-1110 at Gardenhill, Castleconnell will be closed from Tuesday 28th October 2008 at 8.00am until Sunday 2nd November 2008 at 5.00pm.

Quarry Blasting
Blasting at Touknockane quarry in Cooleen on the Birdhill to Newport R504 occurs most Tuesdays and Thursdays at 15.40 hours.

Blasting schedule for October/November 2008 is

Due to operational issues dates may vary and will be posted on a VMS Variable Message Sign at the quarry. Local residents are notified of each weeks schedule by letter. Occasional second blasts take place 30 minutes after the scheduled blast. Local residents are informed by weekly of the blast schedule.

Blasting is also occurring in Ballinahinch but no roads are affected.

Traffic Management
Flagmen are in place on all road crossings which are in use.

On the existing Nenagh bypass there is a temporary speed limit of 60 Km/h where cones are in place. Overtaking is restricted and there is an Emergency Breakdown service in place (087 361 6652). A new section at the Dublin end is open to the new semi permanent layout.

There is an ongoing temporary speed limit of 60 Km/h on the N7 near Mulrooney's service station where a bridge is being built across the N7.  

A temporary speed limit of 50 Km/h is in place 200m meters north, south and west of the Killaloe Road junction of the N7 at Birdhill and a new road layout is in place incorporating the new roundabout.

A temporary speed limit of 50 Km/h is in place on all approach roads to the Newport Interchange (Finnigans roundabout) and a new road layout is in place.

There is a temporary speed limit of 55 Km/h for construction traffic on the R504 Newport Road from Birdhill to Cooleen.
